Apart from the incident with the bug, this was realistically a 5/5 stay. The staff were helpful and courteous during our five nights, and everyone apart from leadership was excellent. After we reported the bug, the room was deep cleaned the next day. The manager on duty apologized in person and offered a complimentary night voucher for a future stay. I accepted because we had Christmas plans and asked for it to be added to my account or mailed. A month later, the general manager apologized again and promised to send it by mail and email, but it never arrived. A few hours after check-in, once we'd unpacked and settled in, we found a bug on the sheets. We first thought it might be a flea, but learned later that it was head lice after our children unfortunately contracted it. I brought the squished bug downstairs the next morning and notified the desk right away. One of our daughters did get head lice, and we never received the promised complimentary night. It was an unfortunate situation, though I believe the staff made a sincere effort and responded professionally. EDIT: I was contacted, apologized to, and the situation was rectified, so I'm changing my rating from 1 star to 3. If I return and have a good stay, I'll update it and raise it further.

The location was convenient and close to everything, yet the hotel still felt quiet and peaceful. My wife and I had a great stay. The room was spotless and comfortable, with what we needed for a relaxing visit, and we both loved the breakfast. It was one of the best we've had on our travels. From arrival, the staff were welcoming, professional, and ready to help. Housekeeping did a great job keeping the room clean, and the whole place felt warm and well cared for. We'd absolutely recommend it to anyone wanting comfort, good service, and a stress-free stay.

The towels felt stiff and scratchy, probably because of the area's hard water. It wasn't a big problem, but I noticed it, and the hotel could use some updates. Still, our stay was positive overall, and we chose to come back because our first visit a few years ago on a road trip to Vermont had been pleasant. We returned recently while visiting Vermont again, too tired to keep driving back to downstate New York. The hotel was still a convenient, comfortable choice, close to everything we needed. Staff were friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout. In many ways, it gives you exactly what you'd want from a hotel.

The staff were helpful and friendly, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The place looks like it was modernized recently, since even the mattresses still had that new look. I'll stay here again next time I'm in the area.

The rooms were huge and clean, with the usual Hampton Inn quality. I skipped breakfast since it was the usual okay fare. Norma J’s downtown was excellent. The hotel is around 10 minutes outside downtown Plattsburgh, with lots of stores and restaurants just a few minutes up the road.
