Red Roof Inn Minneapolis - Plymouth

The room was so dirty that I refused to stay. The sheets and pillowcases were yellow, there was dust everywhere, and flies and fleas were flying around. I checked for bed bugs and didn’t find any at that point. The inside had apparently been remodeled some time ago, but it hasn’t been kept up since. Outside, the building and grounds were in very poor shape, like an old rust bucket ready to crumble. I gave the place the benefit of the doubt and went up to see the room after checking in for my two-night stay, then went back downstairs and told the gentleman I was leaving for somewhere else. It was the most disgusting room I’ve ever seen at a Red roof inn. Be very careful about staying here. Management needs to replace the whole staff with people who will actually clean, or blow up the building and rebuild and remodel. You’ve been warned.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here, even if it’s cheap. We drove home instead of spending the night, only staying in the room for less than two hours after our basketball game was cancelled. My family and I were in town for a weekend tournament two weeks ago, and this was the most affordable option for one night: $95+ dollars including tax for one room with two full size beds. The second-floor room had mold in a corner, a hole in the comforter, and hair in the bathtub drain. The toilet kept running for at least two minutes after flushing. Outside, walking from the lobby toward the room, the wood looked brittle and like it was falling apart, and there seemed to be blood stains on the way to a trash can. Once we learned our game was cancelled the next day, we left around 10:30 at night and drove about an hour and a half home without a second thought.

The room was empty of people, but we were still given the last room on the third floor, and it only had one bed for my father and me. We were in town for a concert. The wrong key card was handed to us, so we had to walk back down in the freezing weather. The replacement card was wrong too. Once inside, I was feeling okay until I stepped on a razor blade in the middle of the floor. My foot was bleeding and I had to wrap it. This was a terrible experience, with awful cleaning and customer service.

The housekeeping team was great, and the room itself was nice, with a clean refrigerator and an excellent bathroom. The office staff, though, weren't helpful. We paid for a full week because we had to start new jobs in Colorado on Monday, but checked out before 11am Saturday after staying four of the seven days. The cashier said the weekly discount meant they would charge us for Saturday and reimburse us for two days. That reimbursement never came, and I knew she was lying. Be aware, paying for a week doesn't mean you'll be reimbursed if you leave early.
