The Amethyst Beach Motel

I stayed at that Motel in November and had no problems at all. The room was very clean, and the staff were amazing. There were plenty of towels, and the soap and toilet paper were stocked. This place is awesome, and I’d recommend it to family and friends.

We’re on our third night here and haven’t had any complaints, so I was surprised by some of the negative reviews. The location is perfect, just a short walk from the boardwalk and beach. The front desk lady is super friendly, and so are the housekeeping staff. Our room is very clean, the beds are comfortable, and there’s plenty of room for all four of us. The bathroom and shower are a nice size. The pool is my favorite part: it’s kept clean and is a great place to unwind after a day at the beach. Thanks to the staff for a great stay. I’ll definitely come back next time.

I’m done staying here. I kept coming back over the years because my late mother brought me and my family here, so the place means a lot to me. But it hasn’t been updated in decades and still charges premium prices. On my latest visit, there was no staff onsite overnight, and kids were running around until 4 or 5 a.m. I called management three times. They told me to call the police myself, which shouldn’t fall on a paying guest. I’m on dialysis and needed rest, but got none. The next morning, the owner cut me off when I tried to talk. He said he had health issues of his own and went into the back. He offered $100 back on a $450 room, which felt insulting, and I never even received it. Guests are now charged $50 per night for parking, while the lot is also rented to the public. Cars get boxed in constantly, and it feels like only a matter of time before someone’s car gets hit. I also saw the owner in a heated argument in the lot with a middle-aged woman. He yelled and called her awful names over a $20 parking space. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional. The hotel holds memories for me, but it’s overpriced, outdated, and mismanaged, and the owner clearly doesn’t care about guests. It’s time for him to sell and retire.

We booked three rooms for three nights, and they were all ready by 11 a.m. We were meant to check out at 11 a.m. on our last day, but the lady opened another room for our group to use in an emergency or to change the kids before heading home. We stayed in it until 2 p.m. That was really kind of them. The boardwalk was just two blocks away. We’ll definitely be back next year!
