Kauai Cove Cottages

We had a wonderful time at these cottages and would love to come back soon. The location was great, with the beach and shopping within walking distance. EJ was friendly and easy to reach when we had questions, and the cottage had everything we needed.

We used the Hibiscus unit as our base for hiking and kayaking around Kauai, and the location worked really well. Baby Beach was an easy walk of about 2 minutes, great for sunsets and watching turtles. Inside, the cottage was just as described: clean, quiet, and comfortable. We appreciated the extras too, from beach chairs and towels to the chocolates and drinks waiting in the fridge. Definitely recommend this spot.

We made delicious smoothies with local fruit using the kitchen appliances, including the blender. The room was cozy, and the bed was so comfortable. It was also easy to get around: Baby Beach was a 5 minutes walk, cute sea turtles were a 1 minute walk away, and restaurants, shops, and a pharmacy were about 5 minutes on foot. There are lots of beautiful beaches within a 5-10 minutes drive. We had a great time here and strongly recommend it!

We couldn't recommend this cottage. It needs serious attention from the owner and better bug control. The cottages are really one unit split into 3 small rooms with separate entrances, and Poipu Beach is a 30-minute walk away. There was dust in corners, behind the TV, under furniture, and elsewhere, even though we kept the place clean during our stay. We left clean dishes and a clean sink, as shown in the attached photo, and we're tidy people who keep our home clean too. The property clearly gets little attention. Cockroaches were a major problem. The cleaner would sweep them under the bed or a night table, and in the evenings they ran in all directions when we opened cabinets or drawers. When we raised it with the owner, he suggested we might have brought them in the trunk of our rental car. That said a lot about how interested he was in dealing with the issue. After we got home, we had to leave our suitcases outside and spend hours shaking every item carefully to make sure no cockroaches had come with us. Nobody wants to spend time doing that after a vacation. The kitchen wasn't very useful beyond storing takeout in the fridge. The hot plate is decades old, and a small pot of water took 30 minutes to boil, so even warming food or cooking something basic was a problem. The knives were too dull to cut a tomato, and the sharpener was broken. The A/C blew directly at the person on the right side of the bed. The bathroom had no A/C or ventilation, so it got uncomfortably hot during the day.
