Stardust Motel

The second room was an improvement for our last two nights. It had a microwave, an outlet behind the bed, comfortable beds, and was quiet both day and night. No bugs in either room, which I appreciated. Direct TV was great, but the Wi-Fi was unusable. I'd stay at the Stardust Motel again if I had to, though $85 a night for two beds seems high when there are better options nearby. Our first room had a bathroom light that didn't work, and water leaked from the upstairs shower through the fixture on our first night. They had no other two bed rooms then, so they moved us the next day. I also found the smoke detector in the nightstand drawer without a battery. I asked for a discount for that first night and got $5. The clerk was friendly, at least. The property is older and had some cosmetic damage, including holes in the bathroom door and wall behind the knob. Only one of the four walls had usable outlets, so charging our phones was a real hassle. The ads and descriptions make it sound like the Stardust has kitchenettes, but it doesn't. I think all rooms have mini fridges, while a microwave is hit or miss.

I've been homeless for a while, and this is the first motel I've stayed at that made me feel at home. The room is nice and spacious, and the staff are mostly on point. I'd recommend it to anyone needing a temporary, safe place to stay.

The TV was decent once I worked out the two remotes. Both had tape over the open backs to keep their batteries in. The room's only lamp didn't work, so I had to use the ceiling light. The window AC sounded like a loud engine out of tune, and the small, boxy rooms felt like a run-down college dorm.

It's a small, low-key place, and the rate is reasonable if you pay by the week. The motel is kept tidy, and I didn't find a single bug inside or outside the room where I stayed. The maid service is top notch. I was really happy and grateful to have stayed there.
