Residence Inn Fort Lauderdale Pompano Beach Central

I travel for work and have stayed at lots of Residence Inn hotels and other places, so I know what to expect. This location really stands out. The staff keep the atmosphere fun, with people hanging out in the lobby, chatting and playing cards, which you don’t see much these days. The ladies running the breakfast and evening light bites clearly take pride in their work. The buffet was clean, well stocked, and they kept an eye on the food. The evening bites have saved me time, since I didn’t have to stop somewhere for dinner and had more time to myself. Rachael runs a tight ship in the back of house, and it shows. Tonya at the front desk is always there with a polite greeting, a quick check that you have what you need, or directions to the right place. I wish every Marriott Residence Inn were like this, keeping the old standard alive and well. Congrats on a job well done.

The suites were clean and spacious, with a relaxing, home-like feel and good amenities, making this a great choice for an extended stay in the area. Breakfast and happy hours were included. Management and staff were friendly, professional, and accommodating, always ready to help with requests. You’ll feel welcome and appreciated here. Highly recommend it!

We paid more for this hotel than for other Marriott properties in the area, but it was easily the worst Marriott I’ve stayed in. On the same trip, the other Marriott hotels near the airport where I spent a night were all much better. This place doesn’t meet Marriott standards, or even those of a respectable two-star hotel. Check-in was rough. The desk agent and manager spent about 15 minutes dealing with a computer issue while trying to assign us a room. Tech problems happen, but they gave us no update or basic courtesy, and left us standing at the counter without explaining anything or offering us a seat in the lobby. Once they finally assigned the room, there was no apology, just a short comment about the computer and a key handed over without a smile. The room was gloomy, outdated, depressing, and smelled bad. The sheets were stained, and there was a cockroach in the bathroom. At 7:00 AM, there was no running water. Breakfast was missing some things that kids enjoy at other properties, like maple syrup and whipped cream.

A breakdown forced me to leave my truck at Freightliner two doors away and stay for two nights. Luckily this location had a vacancy, and my stay started off pleasantly. I’d had such a great experience with everyone, from management to housekeeping, that I asked the front desk for help while I was in a bind. Manager Shantell, forgive me if I’ve misspelled her name, really took the time to do everything she could for me. I also spoke with LuLu at the desk several times, and she was always helpful and smiling, making me feel welcome. Housekeeping greeted me with a smile in the halls too. It seems clear that management takes care of the staff, and the customer service throughout was excellent. The complimentary breakfast was excellent as well, with lots of choices and something different each day. Thanks for turning a bad situation into a much better one. I’d recommend this location to anyone needing a place to rest, for any length of time.
