Surf Side Resort

This has become my favorite place to stay, and I’ll come back whenever I need a quiet getaway. It’s close to everything but wonderfully peaceful, just what I look for when I want to relax. The hotel was spotless and well maintained. Everyone on staff was welcoming, friendly, and truly helpful. It’s rare to find somewhere that feels so calm and comfortable.

We came for a family function and wanted somewhere nice, quaint, and a little out of the way. The staff were so friendly, and she let me check in early when we had nowhere else to go. The room was surprisingly nice, updated, and smelled very clean. I especially liked that the owners keep the riff raff down, so it was quiet at night. The pool was amazing, right outside our door, and the private beach was a very short walk away. All in all, a really nice place to stay.

We ended up leaving and finding another hotel for the night, and then were told we owed the full amount because we hadn’t canceled three days ahead. We asked the next morning about a refund or even partial credit, but the room problems and lack of hospitality didn’t change the answer. If the welcome had been even remotely pleasant, we might have overlooked some of the issues. The rude, dismissive treatment made the stay unacceptable. I wouldn’t recommend this motel. The trouble started as soon as we arrived for the weekend. My father-in-law had booked the room for my husband and me. The owner came out while we were parking and said we couldn’t stay because we weren’t the registered guests. We were willing to register ourselves, but she offered no solution and kept saying things like “I don’t want any funny business” and “we don’t do that,” as though booking a room for family was unreasonable. We were also told children under 12 weren’t allowed, a rule that hadn’t appeared during booking. When we mentioned our daughter, the owner again gave us attitude, making us feel blamed for not knowing a policy that hadn’t been stated. After we registered, the motel felt strangely empty and unwelcoming. Later that evening, the TV wasn’t set up, so we had to configure it ourselves. The bed squeaked badly and had little to no cushion. The AC didn’t work, leaving the room uncomfortably hot, and the cleanliness was questionable.

A charming little resort with an old Florida feel. It was clean, near the pier and several nice restaurants, and had a pleasant outdoor pool. Daily cleaning service is a nice touch and rare these days. Highly recommend.
