Palamar Motel

There are plenty of places to eat and shop a short distance away, and the rates are very good, including daily, weekly, or monthly options if you ask. The rooms are decent, with comfortable beds, clean sheets and towels, and friendly staff. Each has a dresser, mini fridge, microwave, and flat screen TV. There’s a fairly wide choice of cable channels, but no premium ones like HBO, Starz, or Showtime. Lower-floor rooms are carpeted, while many upstairs rooms have faux wood floors. Shower pressure is good, though the temperature can swing from cold to extremely hot depending on when you shower. Wi-Fi is great toward the front of the building, but in the rear it may be unusable. There are no phones in the rooms. Overall, a very good motel.

The non-smoking room smelled like an ashtray, and the smell of reefer was strong outside when we arrived. The place cost $50 for two adults. One building was boarded up, with another abandoned building just beyond it. Wind came through gaps around the door. There was a fridge and an antique microwave in the room, but no ice machine, Wi-Fi, or coat hangers. The parking lot had shady-looking people, and it seemed like the motel had become a long-term place for indigent people. I saw what looked like some kind of deal happening in the lot. There’s absolutely nothing around it. Otherwise lovely.

The rates are reasonable, though the place only has maybe 25 rooms. It’s an older hotel, but the rooms are large. Mine had a refrigerator, microwave, bath, table, dresser, desk, nightstand, and a spot to hang clothes. The staff are friendly, and the other residents are friendly too.

They provide air conditioning and a TV, and the room I saw was clean because the person living there kept it that way. This motel felt scary to me. They rent by the week as well, and there are many people dealing with drug and alcohol addiction hanging around. There seemed to be a lot of sad things going on there.
