The room was just okay, and the service felt unfriendly, dry, and short on information about the charges. The hallways were run-down and the elevator wasn't working. The lobby was the only nice-looking part, but we barely spent any time there, so all that upkeep seemed wasted. I paid $160 for one night. At that price, this place wasn't worth it to me. Even $70 a night would be generous.

The place has potential, but it needs some care. Our room had a very old office chair, and the mattress was so old and noisy that this was really only a place to sleep. Breakfast was basic: make-your-own waffles, Fruity Pebbles or Cocoa Pebbles, oatmeal, and coffee. The juice bar was out of order, and the fridge was empty, so there was no yogurt, scrambled eggs, or sausage like we'd had at breakfast at another location.

I couldn't get anyone to call me back after asking for help with the dirt in our room, and still haven't heard from anyone. There was no manager on site, and I couldn't reach anyone about my deposit, which hadn't been refunded after more than two weeks. The room was unclean and smelled bad, the beds were uncomfortable, the towels had holes, and the desk clerks were rude. Breakfast was limited to the cafeteria and was awful: broken cases, juice labels taped on, and waffles we couldn't eat. Quality Inn Salt Lake City Downtown is not somewhere I'd stay again.

The bed was very noisy whenever either of us moved. It seemed like the plastic parts of the box support were rubbing together. The mattress was soft, and the fitted sheet kept slipping off the corners. There was no sink stopper, so jewelry could easily fall down the drain. I also noticed the window stays open about 1/2", which isn't an issue right now but will be once it gets cold.

I've stayed at plenty of 2-star hotels, but none this bad. The room was filthy, with trash and pills left on the floor. It seemed like they only clean after three or four guests, and the Wi-Fi kept cutting in and out all day.
