Holiday Inn Express & Suites Salt Lake City-Airport East

The room was very clean, and the water pressure was fine. I also liked that the noisy air conditioner worked as white noise for me. But the building had a dingy look and a gross smell, the windows were dirty, and the pool looked creepy. Parking added $8 to the night, and the lot was small and crowded, so get there early. It wasn't the worst stay, but I left myself a reminder not to book here next time I'm in SLC. There are better options nearby for less, even though the rooms here are very clean.

I spotted a bug sitting on the mirror above the desk. It later flew to the window, and when it dropped to the floor it blended into the carpet. I'm not sure where it came from. There are also a few minor repairs that could be done. Otherwise, the room was clean and nicely arranged, and check-in was quick and easy. They had delicious cookies for guests to take, and the breakfast hours, 6:30am-9:30am, are great for people who sleep in. One small suggestion: could they add hot cocoa to the rooms? There are coffee and tea, but I drink neither and would prefer a hot chocolate pod.

The hotel itself was okay, though it could use updating, and the water pressure was practically nonexistent. We won't be back. We booked because we expected Holiday Inns to have good breakfast, but what happened there was disgusting. In the morning, people who weren't paying guests and appeared to be homeless were eating breakfast and grabbing gravy with their bare hands instead of using utensils. I told the woman at the front desk, but she didn't seem to care or do anything, and acted as if this happened every day. Lots of kids ate afterward without knowing people had put their hands in the gravy. Please spend your money at a better hotel downtown or somewhere else. And don't delete this review like you did my last one.

The service was amazing and helpful. The room was large, updated, well kept, and furnished nicely. The location is perfect, right by the airport or just off 215.
