Olympic Lodge by Ayres

Parking was easy and there were plenty of spaces, and the staff made check-in and checkout smooth. Housekeeping was attentive, too. We found the rooms spacious, quiet, clean, and comfortable, with good beds, reliable Wi-Fi, and an air conditioner that worked well. The Pacific Northwest lodge feel came through in the warm wood, cozy seating, and relaxing common areas. The lobby fireplace was a highlight. Breakfast and coffee were good, but the menu barely changed day to day and coffee choices were limited. Bathroom ventilation could be better. We enjoyed our stay and found it a comfortable base for Olympic National Park, Lake Crescent, waterfalls, forests, and mountain scenery.

The lobby is lovely, and the rooms are clean and roomy. You can hear people walking around in the rooms above, though, since the sound insulation between floors isn't very good. The Wi-Fi was barely usable for work. They're aiming to provide 10 Mbits symmetric, which might have been plenty in 2010, but cloud services use a lot, and the connection doesn't always deliver the full amount. Trying to work on a laptop or phone when it's raining could be frustrating. Breakfast was mediocre. The beds are a bit softer than the Hilton/Marriott standard.

We found the property peaceful and well kept, and the staff were friendly throughout. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with great beds after a long day of exploring. It was convenient for nearby attractions while still feeling quiet and relaxing. Check-in and checkout both went smoothly. I'd absolutely stay here again.

I keep thinking about the lobby, with its large wood-burning fireplace, and all the great photos in the hallways. The outdoor heated hot tub off the lobby was open even in late November. The lodge has the feel of a great European lodge, but it's quite modern. Our twin queens room was quiet and exceptionally clean, with fantastic beds, two comfortable chairs, and a table for wine glasses and snacks. The staff were thoughtful and helpful with our family gathering. There's a very good restaurant across the street for lunch and dinner, and you can buy exceptional wine and food at reception for a relaxing evening. The staff are very customer focused. Cory Irwin, the General Manager, and Shannon Ledford, the Assistant General Manager, both provided excellent service. I feel very comfortable here and plan to stay every time I visit Port Angeles. I'm already looking forward to coming back in the new year.
