Quality Inn Port Arthur – Nederland

I almost never post reviews, but I want people to know about my frightening experience at the quality inn off memorial drive. Later that night, I looked out the window and saw the guard about 15 feet away, just staring at me. I shut the blinds and checked the locks again, feeling completely creeped out. When the phone rang again, I didn’t answer. I called my brother, and he drove two hours to get me so I could check into the super 8 next door. Checking in had been pleasant, and the lady at the desk was helpful, though she seemed bewildered that my name was spelled like a man’s. I explained that was how I spell it. Afterward, someone who seemed to be the night security guard offered to walk me to my room. His tank top and cheap jewelry uniform threw me off, but as a woman alone after 10 pm, I agreed. I regretted it. He walked behind me, bragging about himself and making sexual innuendos. At the door, I had to block him from coming in while he said he needed to check the room for vagrants. Less than four minutes after I managed to shut the door, he called my room phone to ask if everything was to my satisfaction. He kept trying to come back in, so I hung up.

I heard a chime in the hallway several times during the night, possibly a full reservoir alert from one of the portable dehumidifiers. The elevator was locked on the first floor when I left in the morning. The second floor smelled like fried fast food, and my room had a mildew odor, with clear signs of water damage. Dehumidifiers were sitting in the hall, and the hotel generally felt run down. I’ll stay elsewhere next time.

We rented four rooms, and every one had bed bugs. There was mold all over, and the place was run down. Don’t waste your money or time.

The breakfast was bland, but the service was great. It’s a nice hotel.
