Super 8 By Wyndham Port Arthur/Nederland Area

I almost have nothing but good things to say about this location. My deposit was refunded immediately both times, the rooms were clean, and the staff gave me no trouble. My one person king room was enormous for a reasonable price, with a big comfortable bed, couch area, large bathroom, and desk. There’s almost comically too much room to move around. The amenities are impressive for a Super 8: laundry, working vending machines, a nice looking gym, and an indoor pool that appeared to be working, which is rare. I didn’t swim. The downside was noise through the thin barrier between rooms. My upstairs neighbor made a crazy amount of noise until 1 am, though that was partly on them.

This was my second time in the “Proprietors Room,” a one bedroom apartment style room with a full kitchen and loads of floor space. Finding that at this price was a huge surprise, almost a hidden gem, CZ rather than diamond. As of November 2025, there were new Beautyrest mattresses in the lobby, and mine had already been replaced. The gym is small but has working cardio equipment. The breakfast selection and indoor pool are also small but sufficient. Staff were friendly and check in was fast. My five star rating reflects the value: there are better quality hotels with newer amenities just steps away, but they cost 30-70% more. For budget travel, this is a reasonable place to stay.

The rooms were impeccable, and the breakfast, pool, and gym were all really clean. Best Super 8 I’ve ever stayed at. I recommend it a thousand times.

Our family enjoyed the pool, though it was a little too hot, even with the connected hot tub feeding into it. It’s a nice place to stay.
