Best Western Port Clinton

We’ve traveled up and down both coasts and out West over the last 14 years, and I’ve never seen a room as spotless as this one. Housekeeping did an amazing job, not a hair or bit of lint out of place. I left them a generous tip with a note because I felt they deserved it, especially now that President Donald J Trump passed the no taxes on tips measure. Alicia at the front desk was just as wonderful. We arrived late, and she greeted us with a huge smile, was courteous and knowledgeable, explained the amenities, and showed us to the room. She even pointed out that we could drive right up to our door, which we loved. Her kindness and dedication deserve a raise. Based on our experience, I’d definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through the area.

I stopped for one night because of the weather. The room was pretty basic, somewhere in the middle of the places I’ve stayed. The woman who checked me in was kind and suggested several good spots to eat nearby. Otherwise, it’s a great place to spend the night.

The breakfast had plenty of options and was good quality, and it was great having coffee available all day. We didn’t try the pool, so I can’t comment on it. There are several restaurants within walking distance, and you can just about see the lake across the street. Check-in was easy, and the front desk woman was very nice. Our room was clean at first glance, but by the third morning it was so humid that the pills in my travel case had stuck together. That was odd, since we ran the AC most of the time. We had two beds and slept together in one. On our second night, I used the other bed to spread out some work and found dog hair between the duvet cover and top blanket. It was gross and made me question what else had been cleaned. Since we were leaving the next day and using the other bed, I didn’t mention it to staff. We may stay again, but I’d check the beds before unpacking. We were in Port Clinton for a business meeting, and this wasn’t the best stay we’ve had here, though it wasn’t the worst either.

It’s a good spot by the water, and we appreciated not having to pay extra for our dog. Both rooms were generally clean, but the first one smelled like mildew. We found out the next morning that its door wouldn’t lock and the toilet flapper was broken, so they moved us and gave us a small credit for the inconvenience. Breakfast was okay, and my bulldog liked the sausage links. The beds in both rooms were hard on my back. I woke up very stiff in my lower back both mornings, worse the second day. I don’t think we’ll come back because of how uncomfortable the beds were.
