Fairfield by Marriott Port Clinton Waterfront

The gym was spacious and had plenty of equipment, including three treadmills, and the staff seemed great. Housekeeping respected the do not disturb sign. I stayed four nights, and the room was clean and nice, with a lovely lake view even while it was frozen. There was a huge desk, and wired internet ran around 90 Mbps. The bathroom had a big counter, a roomy shower, and strong water pressure. Only issue was the bedside setup. There was just one outlet, on one side of the bed, so only one of us could plug in overnight. More outlets would help.

The staff were really friendly and attentive, and the rooms were clean, modern, and well kept. Parking felt safe and was well lit. The lake is only a few feet away. For a stay in Port Clinton, this is the best choice.

I travel a lot and usually choose Marriott hotels, so this stay was a letdown. Although I booked a king room with a lake view weeks ahead, I was put on the ground floor opposite a very noisy conference room and right beside the breakfast area. Getting any sleep was tough. The view was supposedly of the lake, but an air conditioning unit blocked it. The rooms also feel dated and could use a remodel.

The room was mostly clean, though the bathroom floor wasn't. The place itself is in a beautiful spot, but the view was spoiled by filthy windows. The power shade didn't work, and the curtains wouldn't fully close, so morning sun came in. We hadn't set an alarm, but one went off two hours before we planned to get up.
