Quality Inn Indy Castleton

We were happy with the location and the breakfast was fine. The desk person who checked us in was apologetic, but we won’t stay with Choice Hotels again. I booked through Hotwire and didn’t know about the $100 hold. I wasn’t happy about it, though I suppose I should’ve checked. I also thought there was an indoor pool, but the pool was outdoors and closed. Our first room had no shower knob, so we asked to move. The bathroom with the tub, shower, and toilet was tiny. The TV in our second room didn’t work, so the front desk person tried to fix it, then moved us across the hall to a room with a working TV. We were given only one key card, and it seems the system wasn’t updated: the next morning someone opened our door thinking the room was empty. The front desk called with questions, and when I went down to return the key and explain, there was no apology, just a promise to check with management. I asked for a receipt and was told to get it from the third party. My Hotwire receipt only shows the original booking and payment. I think the hotel should provide something confirming checkout, and I hope there won’t be extra charges.

It was quieter than I expected, with plenty of parking and easy access from the highway. The rooms are a good value and clean, though the fridge was unplugged. Breakfast was okay: eggs, biscuits and gravy, yogurt, bagels, and waffles, with no cereal, but enough to get by. One annoying road issue: you can’t get back to I465 North from Allisonville.

The room was very unclean during my stay with my family and kids. We found several suspicious bits of debris or waste near the bed and in the corners, which felt unhygienic and unacceptable for a family. The room’s general condition was poor, and the front desk staff weren’t welcoming or helpful at check-in or during our stay. This was far from what we expected. The location is the only thing this hotel has going for it. I stayed with my daughter and was very disappointed. My husband and I travel quite a bit, and since I believe in giving places a second or third chance, I agreed to book this Quality Inn based on its 2.5-star rating and 7.4 score. It didn’t live up to its name. They required a $100 deposit at check-in that wasn’t mentioned on their website. Other hotels ask for a credit card for incidentals, but not a deposit. We found a sock by the bathtub that wasn’t ours, so the room clearly hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly. The bathroom was so small you had to maneuver just to close the door. There was no closet, only some bars for hanging clothes outside the bathroom. I’d give the hotel maybe two stars and a 5.5-6 rating. Very disappointing.
