The Westin Indianapolis

The room felt roomy and relaxing, with a couch, fridge, and really comfortable beds. There wasn't a microwave in the room, but one was conveniently down the hall, and the bagged ice was a nice touch. The shower was great, especially with the handheld feature. The Westin Indianapolis is also very convenient for the convention center and connecting hotels. I enjoyed my stay and would come back.

The common areas are modern and spacious, and the rooms have a good size and layout. The two managers I spoke with, a man in the evening and a woman in the morning, were fantastic, though I forgot their names. A few young people from Bali working there as interns were great as well. The rest of the staff seemed more focused on being right than being helpful. I got the impression the managers were constrained by owners cutting staffing to save money while the hotel was quiet near the holidays. The market closed at 1 p.m. and the bar/cafe at 9, which was odd. Maybe service is better when the location's finances support an appropriate staffing level.

The breakfast was excellent, and the food overall was five-star quality. My room was spotless, with a comfortable bed, thoughtful design, and the expected high-end amenities, including essential oils for sleep. Check-in was unusually smooth: staff greeted us at the door, walked us to the desk, and the agent even showed me to the elevator and explained how to reach my room. The Westin Indianapolis is a beautiful hotel right downtown, within walking distance of restaurants, monuments, and the State Capitol. Highly recommend it.

I left my Bose Headphones in the room and assumed they were gone, but after I filed a lost-item report online, the hotel found them and contacted me within a day or two so they could be shipped back. I was amazed. The staff were kind and welcoming throughout, too, though I wish I'd written down everyone's names. We were in Indy for a gymnastics meet, and the location made it easy to get to the Indiana Convention Center without going outside. We arrived late, and the valet team watched my car while I got my daughter settled in the room, then explained the parking options and costs. I saved $15 by parking myself, and the garage elevator went straight to the lobby. The room was clean and quiet, and I slept better than I ever have in a hotel, even without my sound machine. The beds were comfortable, elevators fast, and shopping and restaurants were walkable, with dining options in the hotel as well. I'd stay here again if I'm back in Indy.
