The Dye Course is the real test: demanding, strategic, and a lot of fun. I've played it twice and the Wanamaker Course three times, and they offer very different but equally incredible rounds. PGA Village feels like a golf mecca, with course conditions, atmosphere, and facilities on another level. The practice facility is top-tier, and the staff are consistently friendly. Jo-Anne, who handles tee time calls, is especially helpful and patient, always on top of things. Offseason prices are very fair, and public tee times from March through June are usually wide open. I think it's worth every penny for the quality. PGA Village is one of my favorite places I've played. On my next trip, I plan to try the Ryder Course, and I'm already looking forward to it.
The Dye was a fun round, challenging but fair, with open fairways and plenty of bunkers and waste areas. It's hard to lose a ball. We played as nonmembers or guests that day, then went to the bar to eat. Staff told us we had to leave because it was a members-only area. We left politely and ran into a manager, who said the staff had been right but made an exception and escorted us back to the bar. That was great customer service. Thanks, we really enjoyed our day.
We played Wanamaker again on 10/05/2022, and it was still beautiful after Hurricane Ian. The course seemed to have escaped too much trouble. The greens were in good shape and rolled smoothly, though I would have liked them a bit faster. The newly renovated range was awesome. Ryder is the only course we haven't tried, and I hope we can play it sometime this year. Our first visit was around October 2021, when we played the Dye Course. The layout, scenery, and conditions all deserved a great rating, and the range was complimentary, which was a nice bonus. It's a semi-links style course with a mix of tree lines, long rough, marsh, water, and deep bunkers. It isn't that difficult if you place your shots strategically, but avoid the long rough since you're unlikely to find your ball or get out of it. It's well maintained and fun, and worth the 1.5-hour drive because it's quite different from other South Florida courses.
The Dye course was stunning, with carpet-like tee boxes and fairways, and amazing greens that rolled true and fast. Every bunker was perfect, and course conditions were a 10/10. We had amazing food afterward in the clubhouse too, especially the great Rueben and chicken ceasar wrap. I'd recommend the course to everyone and highly suggest the whole facility if you haven't been.
We had a wonderful time playing two beautiful courses today. We started on the Dye course, which was lovely and a good challenge. I'd never played it before, but I handled it pretty well. After a delicious lunch on site, we went out to the Ryder course, also beautiful and challenging, and I had another good round. The lunch menu isn't large, but it's very tasty, and I highly recommend the club sandwich. I also checked out the pro shop merchandise and found a very nice shirt as a memento of the visit. Staff were friendly and accommodating throughout. The practice facilities were great too. We hope to play the third course next time, it was closed for maintenance today.
