I love the old look of this place, and the restaurant was neat. The hotel staff were amazing, especially at the front desk, and it was great talking with them. But I have to say, I think it’s haunted. I’d heard the stories about the history and legends, including which rooms to visit for a paranormal experience. Then, during the conversation, it seemed like the supernatural wanted to join in. I’m not joking. I walked around with my camera, thinking I’d play paranormal investigator for a night or two. I never expected to capture anything, but I did, on all three nights, even though I hadn’t wanted to. The nights can be a little rough. I’m giving it four out of five stars because I loved the story that came with the stay. I know management will see this, and I’d appreciate an email address so I can share a few video files.

There was a lot I liked for a one-night work trip: check-in was easy, the staff were pleasant, the room was clean, and it stayed pretty quiet at night. The castle has some charm, though the halls are narrow, the stairs steep, and the bathrooms in king rooms are tiny. The first floor smelled damp and musty, so I was glad to be upstairs. My room's mini-fridge was especially loud, which could bother anyone who dislikes white noise. I didn't see air conditioning in the rooms, though you can open the windows and there's a small fan, so keep that in mind for summer. Given its age, the hotel isn't very accessible. If a simple place to sleep for a night in town suits you and some extra mobility and flexibility aren't a problem, Manresa should meet your needs. It may even be haunted?

The restaurant was a great extra, with tasty food and a cozy place to unwind after exploring. My husband and I loved visiting this haunted castle. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the whole experience felt thrilling and enchanting. The atmosphere is full of history with just enough spooky charm. Every corner felt like stepping back in time, and the stories about the castle made the visit even more captivating. My husband is a big Ghost Adventures fan, so he loved it too.

The retro fridge was cute, and there’s a Mexican restaurant and bar downstairs from the rooms. I wanted to like the old-school feel, but this stay was a waste of money for us. We paid for two nights and left after one, then messaged Manresa without getting a reply. The bed felt like a board, even though I like a firm mattress. The small tub and shower curtain rod was falling off. The rooms need remodeling and upgrades; they feel like they're falling apart. Even the round table was the smallest I've ever seen. Cold air came through the unsealed windows all night, and the carpet had an ugly floral print. The photos make it look like a castle, but in person it really doesn't. You get an ocean view from only one side, and even then you have to look past a housing community. I'll never be back.

The people who work here are really nice and enjoy talking about the hotel's history. There are lots of old photos of the town and the building from the early 1800s. My wife and I went exploring at night after hearing the place was haunted. We didn't experience anything, but it was still fun. It's a wonderful hotel.
