Best Western Porterville Inn

I’ve stayed at four Best Westerns over the past year, and I’m still impressed by how much the franchise has turned around in recent years. This one is a standard BW, but the rooms are spacious and clean, with comfortable bedding. Jay at the front desk was knowledgeable, friendly, and professional, and the staff were all smiles. A good budget stay without giving up cleanliness, comfort, or service. Highly recommend.

There are better hotels around, though this might do if you absolutely need a room. The internet kept dropping and could barely handle basic TV, so gaming or heavy business use is out. I also had $250 taken from my bank as a regular payment, even though it was supposed to be a hold. When I asked about it, their computers suddenly went down. Convenient. The do not disturb sign didn’t help either, since maids still came to clean while I was in the room. Management puts in just enough effort to make money, with no apparent interest in making this a reputable business. Bottom of the barrel.

We stopped in at the last minute and needed somewhere that accepted dogs. The desk staff were super nice and personable, the rooms were nice, and it was quiet in March.

The hot tub was the main reason I booked, since it was listed on every site I checked, including the Best Western site, which still has it posted. But when we arrived, I found it hadn’t worked for months. I’d called the hotel a month earlier to check that they had a hot tub, and nobody mentioned that it was out of order. That was really unsettling. Breakfast was a letdown too, served in a cramped little room. The coffee maker took forever, making one cup at a time, and the food was as bland and boring as possible. At least the front desk service was pleasant and friendly, and the room was clean with great shower pressure.
