The Hollywood neighborhood was fine and had a few things to do, and it wasn't noisy during our stay. The front desk managers were nice enough. Still, we should have picked somewhere else. The outside lights were so bright that with the room lights off, it was hard to tell if it was day or night while trying to sleep. The room might be somewhat clean, but stained towels and holes in the blanket were there at best. Based on the feel of the place and its surroundings, the worst might be worse than I want to imagine. Not good, though if you're desperate, it might do.

The parking lot has a metal gate that made it feel like driving into a prison, and the odd pull-off for check-in wasn't easy to spot. I was also charged a $100 deposit for a room I wouldn't pay $25 for. We drove six hours for what turned out to be an unbelievably filthy place. This was a Priceline cyber deal rated 2.5 stars, which made the whole thing even harder to believe. The bed hadn't been made and was covered in what looked like blood or urine. A pile of filthy, wet towels had black and brown stains and smelled of mold and mildew. There was another crumpled, wet hand towel on the dining table. Gunk covered the walls, and the floor hadn't been swept or mopped for who knows how long. I was afraid to even open the fridge or microwave, half expecting to find a dead cat. It was the worst, most disgusting experience. We're easy to please, and even Motel 6 is nice compared with this druggy motel that everyone avoids. Shame on Priceline and OYO. I'll add photos if I can.

The room was spacious, but the floors weren't level, which made it very hard to walk around. For what the rooms cost, I expected more. During our two-week stay, the housekeeping manager came into our room several times without knocking. I had to remind her that we had dogs, and she said she thought we'd already checked out. I could really only communicate in English with the manager, and I understood about 80 percent of what he said.

They make it nearly impossible to cancel a reservation, whether you try online or by phone. I even contacted the hotel directly, but they said they couldn't help. After reading these reviews, I'm sure they'd rather dodge valid cancellation requests than honor the cancellation period they state.

There are some good bars and restaurants in walking distance, and public transit is easy to reach. Those were the only good things. We stay in motels often and weren't expecting anything fancy, but this was way beyond what we could accept. The carpet was stained, there was someone else's hair on the pillow, roaches were in the bathroom, and the towels had dried-up something on them. The security lights are useful, but there was no way to block them, so the room was as bright as 2 p.m. all night. No cleaning service, clearly, and bad customer service. Just say no.
