Comfort Suites Portland Southwest

The room was really comfortable, and the staff were friendly. I stayed here years ago too, and the front desk has always been helpful and professional. The parking lot feels safer than at other Portland hotels. No complaints, and thanks to management for a wonderful location.

The staff were awful. I made a last-minute reservation about an hour ahead for two nights on Christmas, and the girl canceled my shady paid booking because I didn’t have my service animal’s certification with me. The office manager promised a refund, then refused to honor it. We were left sleeping in our car on Christmas and out $196. The manager also won’t respond to the BBB or hotel.com about keeping the money they said they’d refund.

I’ve usually stayed here when visiting town, but I’m reconsidering after this visit. Check-in went well, and the room was nice, but there was chipped plaster in the main area and the bathroom wallpaper was peeling with mold underneath. I’d also noticed a hole in the wall behind the person registering me. In the evenings, nobody was at the desk when I came back. I’d wait 15 to 20 minutes, then find the young man on the treadmill in the gym, or have to pound on the desk to get him out of the back office. Checkout was worse. I needed to leave at 2 am for the airport, but the front desk was empty. I yelled and pounded with no response, and the doors were locked. After waiting, I finally got out the front doors and saw through the office window that the young man was asleep with headphones on. I’ll definitely have to think twice about staying again.

The rooms were dirty and the staff were lazy. I asked for help with the TV, but nobody came or even showed me how to use it. We left a jacket behind and realized six hours later. I called, then sent them a box with an extra shipping label so they could send it home. They got the box the next day, but never sent it. They kept saying the jacket had gone out in the box, which obviously wasn’t true. I can only assume someone kept it. Avoid this Comfort Inn. The others I’ve stayed at have been great, but this one feels shady.
