The rooms have plenty of space and are kept up well, though they’re very basic. The staff were helpful, including housekeeping. Parking is in a garage across the street and easy to get to, but I was surprised there was no valet. Breakfast was included with our booking, with a self-serve buffet and à la carte options. While we were there, it was badly understaffed: tables stayed dirty and buffet items ran out. The employees were doing what they could, but it felt like they needed at least two more people. The location alone makes it a solid choice.
Our flight got canceled in the blizzard, but the staff turned a difficult anniversary trip into something special. Abby Tasca greeted us with a huge smile every day, and after apparently overhearing us mention our anniversary, she arranged for chocolate-covered strawberries and champagne to be left in our room. Kyle, Frank, and another driver were always ready to take us on the shuttle, which was especially helpful since we’re not used to snow. Bars and restaurants are within walking distance, too. My wife and I have vacationed around the country over our 15 years of marriage, and we both agree this was our favorite trip ever. The staff played a big part, and we can’t wait to return.
It was quiet in the room despite being within walking distance of some great food options. The room itself was clean, modern, beautiful, and roomy, and the fitness center was very good.
I travel to Portland for work often and usually stay across the street at the Residence Inn, which I like. This time I wanted a change, and the AC hotel cost about the same. Inside it looks very modern and new, and I even thought the square toilets were neat. The European-inspired breakfast was really good, and the staff were nice. I’d read a couple of complaints about firm mattresses, but I didn’t agree. Parking is in a garage across the street and costs extra, as it seems to at all the nearby hotels. I’d recommend the AC hotel, and I’d get up early for breakfast. The parking situation may be part of being in Portland, but I thought parking was included in my room rate. The review ends unfinished.
People were friendly, and the place is very close to the water, so I imagine it’s great in summer. During my March visit it snowed, which made parking a hassle. The fans in the hallways by the elevators seemed odd, though I could see why they were needed with the heat cranked up. I’m still not sure whether it’s a nice place or mainly a nice location.
