The staff were really nice and extremely helpful. There's easy access to the freeway, and Sandy boulevard has multiple lanes right here, so coming and going is simple. Plenty of good places to eat nearby. It's a great hotel close to the airport, and the price reflects that.
The woman checking us in was kind, even though we had to use a small side window because the lobby was locked when we arrived around 10pm. The room was another story: dirty bedding with holes and stains, marks in the shower and on the walls, and hair sticking out of the wall-mounted blowdryer. The door wouldn’t shut properly and had to be forced to lock, and we heard everything outside, including a little dog barking all night. Spa access and breakfast were still advertised online, but neither was available. I’ve stayed in cheap places before, but this was something else. I wouldn’t recommend it, which is a shame given how close it is to PDX.
The rest of the stay was about what I’d expect from a low to mid-range Econo Lodge, but one front desk employee was incredibly rude and insulting. She treated me as if I were lying about being a guest. I won’t spend another dollar at this location.
When I checked out, the lobby was locked and nobody was there. A housekeeper told me I had to wait for someone to inspect my room before I could leave, something I’d never encountered in 20 years of visiting hotels. They called the front desk, but after waiting 30 minutes I tried the number posted in the window and got no answer. I went back to my room for the AC, propped the door open, and waited there. I also tried calling higher-ups, with no luck. By the time an employee finally checked me out, I’d waited an hour and a half and had to cancel a doctor’s appointment I’d waited six months for. They’d also taken a $100 deposit on top of the room charge. The employee said the cleaner should have handled my checkout, but I had no way of knowing that. The room itself smelled strongly of garbage. After showering, I walked around barefoot and found dirt and pebbles on the unswept floor. My feet turned black, and washing them twice more confirmed it wasn’t just that I’d missed a spot. When I raised the dirty floor, another employee said the floor color was wearing off. When I mentioned the smell, she said I should have changed rooms. Later, someone from the company emailed an apology and offered rewards points. Then they argued with me about what had happened, ignored my reply, and never provided the compensation they’d offered. I’d rather stay under an I-5 overpass than save money at this horrendous place.
Sam is an amazing manager, always polite, helpful, and accommodating. I stay here a couple of days each week, and the rooms have always been clean. I’ve never had any issues. Thanks, everyone, and God bless. Christopher Roland St. Peter
