The service was good, and the cookies may have been the only other good thing. I've stayed at Hilton hotels all over the Northeast, in both Canada and the U.S., and this was one of the worst experiences, if not the worst. Some of it was my fault for not reading the fine print, but management also hasn't kept the place up to what I consider Hilton standards. My mistake was assuming breakfast would be free. Of about 10 different Hiltons in the last two years, this was the first where breakfast wasn't complimentary. I also had to pay for parking. I picked a Hilton brand thinking breakfast was included and didn't realize some locations don't offer it that way. The food was poor for the $15 plus tip I paid. The hash browns tasted okay but looked and felt steamed, even though I was there at 6am when it should have been freshest. The sausages seemed like they might have been from the day before, and the eggs were gray. The bacon was good. Of the three fruit bowls, the top one was dirty, as was the top plate beside it. That price seemed fair for a small buffet, but not for that quality. Our room was 329, on the top floor. The hallway floor was strangely uneven, with soft spots, and inside the room there was a soft patch between the bed and TV stand, like a hole covered by plywood. There was change under the bed when we arrived, Cheeto dust on the floor, and hair in the tub. Downstairs, the hot tub had a fake nail floating in it, and the floor was dirty and sandy.

We had a lovely Valentine’s weekend. Making a reservation was easy even close to the dates we wanted, and the rate felt fair. The location was great, and we enjoyed the hot tub in the pool room. I thought paying a little more for the breakfast buffet was worth it. Hilton breakfast has never disappointed me.

I usually stay at Hilton and have never been disappointed, but this time was frustrating. I used the app to check in, choose my room, and get a digital key, only to find the room wasn't ready when we arrived. We had to take a different one, which made the whole process pointless. Then we couldn't open the door because the handles were upside down. The wait for the front desk was so long that we gave up and hung up. A worker we flagged down eventually showed us the handle had to be lifted. The smell of bleach in the room was overwhelming. We opened the window and went out for six hours, but it was still so strong when we got back that it was hard to sleep. I'd also filtered for free parking and breakfast, but got neither. We had to pay for both.

The staff were great, and the price was good. One thing I didn't realize is that breakfast wasn't included for the rate I paid. If I'd known, I'd have made better food arrangements. I may have remembered it wrong, so I don't blame the hotel.

I've been a Hilton Honors member for years because I've appreciated Hilton's bedding and general cleanliness. This visit let me down, especially at the pool and bar, and fell well below what I expected. The pool area was filthy, with hair in the water, people eating and drinking nearby, and food and garbage on the floor. It didn't meet Hilton's usual cleanliness or presentation standards. I went to the bar later for a drink and was the only guest when I arrived. After I finished my first drink, a few others came in and ordered. My empty glass sat in front of the bartender for about 15 minutes while she served people at the far end of the bar. It seemed she was more interested in personal conversations about herself than giving attentive service.
