Both rooms we booked smelled of mildew, so we couldn't stay and found a nearby hotel instead. The halls had fans running to cover up the odor, the rooms were dirty, and the property was poorly maintained. This stay really soured us on the Hilton brand.

The room was large, with two beds as advertised, and both mattresses were in great shape and comfortable. The AC worked well, there were lots of TV channels, and I liked the shower, the shelving, the chair, and the wheeled desk/table. There were plenty of towels. The room also had a full dehumidifier waiting for us, which was already full by morning. The hallway had an air conditioner outside our door, and I appreciate that they were trying to keep it cool, but it didn't inspire confidence. The room smelled overwhelmingly musty, and as someone allergic to mold, I wasn't looking forward to the stay. The wallpaper was stained and peeling. The pillows were old and needed replacing. The fridge doors opened to the right, awkwardly positioned by the entrance. The bathroom faucet sprayed like a bunch of individual jets, which I didn't like. I also thought the listing said there were two TVs, but there was only one. They gave us a number to call if we needed help connecting a laptop to it, so they clearly know about that issue. The fitness room looked nice, but there was no water in its empty tank, so I skipped it. At check-in, the desk person missed details when we split the bill between gift cards and credit cards. The morning staff fixed the payment problems. Management must know about the mold and humidity, given the dehumidifier, so we didn't bother raising it. We've stayed at several newer Portland hotels that seem to have similar issues. The older Hampton was the only one without a mold problem. The TV had too many ads, so I switched to HBO, which had none. We'll probably skip this hotel in future. The mold and humidity and the peeling wallpaper drove the room rating down. Fixing those problems should also clear up the musty smell.

The breakfast was poorly stocked, with no honey, tea bags, or eggs, while staff sat at the breakfast bar eating and watching things on their phones instead of working. The heavy damp smell hit as soon as I walked in. Humidity in my room was around 70%, and it was very hard to sleep even with a dehumidifier in the room. The AC system seems to have failed completely. I usually choose Home2 Suites by Hilton when traveling between cities because I like the consistent standards and practical room design. This location falls well below what I expect from the brand.

The room climate was uncomfortable, and the beds weren't comfortable either. The AC kept cycling between too cold and unpleasantly warm. Even with a separate dehumidifier that I had to empty every four hours, humidity stayed at 70%. Everything looked dated, and there was a horrible mildew and mold smell. Staff were fine, but this is the worst Hilton I've stayed at. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
