Kimpton Hotel Vintage Portland by IHG

The staff made everything straightforward. Check-in was a breeze, valet was no trouble, and they had my vehicle pulled up and ready when we checked out. The desk also accommodated our late checkout without an issue. We liked the location, with downtown Portland and good restaurants nearby, and spent a little time playing pool in the game room. We didn’t use many other amenities. We had a king corner room on the third floor for one night for a special occasion. The bedding was comfortable and the room was clean, but it felt dated, with old furnishings and signs of a past water leak. The shower pressure was weak, and the water didn’t get very warm.

The late night desk clerk was efficient and great, though I’m sorry I didn’t catch his name. I appreciated the welcome touches, and the room was comfortable after a tough day of travel. Ben and Mikasa at checkout were friendly and helpful too. Good food and a bar are right there, with more options within a block. Great location, and I’d love to stay again.

We were there for a quiet Sunday staycation in mid-November, mostly because our water heater at home had broken and we wanted a hot shower somewhere nice. The room was roomy and comfortable, though a little chilly until we adjusted the thermostat. It wasn’t even the hotel’s nicest room. Whitnie handled check-in, KC took care of the valet, and Bradley looked after us at the Bacchus bar. Dinner and drinks were delicious and nicely portioned. I’d go back to the bar just for the food, and I’m curious to try the french fries I heard good things about. We’d consider staying overnight again, hopefully next time to celebrate something. Kimpton Hotel Vintage has an old Portland feel, somewhere between luxury and hip. It’s in a fairly central part of downtown, handy for shopping, restaurants, and local attractions. It’s pet-friendly, which matters for both pet owners and people with allergies. We were still there when I wrote this, so I planned to update with details about the morning and checkout staff.

The one letdown was the shower, where the water pressure was very weak. The staff were responsive when they tried to address it, though. Everything else was great: friendly, accommodating service and a nice room. I left an item behind, and they shipped it back to me.
