Residence Inn Portland Airport at Cascade Station

This Portland Airport Residence Inn worked perfectly for the things I needed to do in Oregon and Washington. I’ve stayed here before and will stay again. When I travel somewhere for more than two days, I usually look for a Residence Inn. The shopping center next door has a good range of shops and restaurants, even though this is an airport hotel. Inside, the rooms are spacious and well kept, and the kitchen is the best part for me because I can make my own meals. Staff are friendly without fussing over you, and they know the area, including some of its little secrets.

After one night here, my kids and I woke up covered in ants. They were all over the bed, nightstand, and our belongings. It upset me, but the kids were close to traumatized. When I told the front desk, one woman said she gets ants around her house this time of year and thanked me for letting them know. The other person just said, “Oh really? Sorry bout that.” I care a lot about good customer service, and that response didn’t resolve the problem. We won’t be returning to any of these properties. On arrival, the service had been good, and the property seemed decent. I liked the fenced area with a basketball hoop, the fire pit with seating, and the two large grills. The room was okay.

The room took a long time to cool down overnight, and the cleaning could use work. There was dust on the windows and vents, white spots on a dirty sofa, and I saw a bug crawling across the bathroom floor. The location was pleasant, though, and the service was generally acceptable.

I travel every week for work, and an unclean room is one of my biggest pet peeves. These rooms were so dirty that I had to ask to switch. They didn’t look like they’d been swept or vacuumed. I wasn’t impressed.
