Kimpton Riverplace Hotel by IHG

We spent three nights at Kimtpon River place in May. The staff were great and the service was good. Breakfast was also good, and with the $30 per person Chase Sapphire Reserve credit, it covered a satisfying brunch. The place is open to everyone, so I recommend booking the restaurant on weekends. We missed the breakfast window one weekend and didn’t get to eat then. It’s a great place to stay, especially with the Chase Sapphire Reserve credits.

The hotel’s spot by Tom McCall Waterfront Park was lovely during Rose Festival weekend. We had a great view of the Hawthorne Bridge and front-row fireworks, though park noise carried into the room. The room was a letdown. It and the beds were incredibly small, so two people struggled to sleep comfortably in one bed. The fridge barely cooled. I left milk and berries in it, ate them a day and a half later, and ended up throwing up. Service was very slow too. Towels took over an hour to arrive, and things seemed to get dropped off only after we left the room. The breakfast restaurant had a wait and slow service, with average food overall. The mushroom patties and matcha latte were good.

People rave about how friendly and helpful the staff are, and say they’ll go the extra mile. They also like that it’s pet-friendly and close to walking paths and downtown. The rooms are big and clean, with comfy beds and river views, and the food and drinks are tasty.

Our upgraded suite was roomy and really comfortable, and the staff were very friendly and ready to help. As an IHG Diamond member, I especially liked the breakfast and brunch, which runs late enough for vacation lie-ins. The evening cocktails were delicious too. Boomer had a great time with the grassy parks and water right nearby. He wants to thank Matt at the front desk for all the belly rubs. We loved staying at Kimpton River Place.
