I booked through Priceline using my brother’s card details, then gave the hotel my own card for the usual hold when I arrived. The front desk person seemed nice, but the manager didn’t. I checked in, went to the room, and checked out right away. I never got a refund, and over the following week I was charged four separate hold amounts. When I raised it with the manager, she just blamed my bank and told me to contact them. I should’ve had one hold, not four, but somehow she said it wasn’t the hotel’s doing.

The quiet, clean rooms and comfortable beds are why this place has felt like home to me. I’ve stayed often enough that the staff feel almost like family. I’ve been moved around a lot, and now I’m dealing with prostate cancer and secondary progressive multiple sclerosis. At 11, I’m really homeless, and I need somewhere to stay until I can get into my final home, where I won’t have to move again. I wish people who stayed here before hadn’t damaged the rooms. I grew up through some hard times on the West Coast in the 80s and 90s. The world was so different then. This Super 8 Wyndham is a decent place at a decent price, and I’ll miss calling it home.

I left without staying, but they charged me a cancellation fee anyway. I was passing through Maine after a hunting trip and stopped to rest for the night. The place seemed sketchy when I arrived, though I tried to stay positive. Then, while moving my truck after checking in, I saw three people smoking crack right outside the lobby doors. I cancelled immediately and told the receptionist why. He just smiled. They still charged me, even though I never entered the room, saying it was their cancellation fee. It’s awful that this place allows open drug use, and I felt they took my money without providing a safe, comfortable environment. After this, I won’t consider staying at a Super 8 again, and I wouldn’t recommend this location.

We arrived after a seven-hour drive for a family vacation, and I couldn’t let my child stay in this filthy, unsafe place. The parking lot had drunks and people hanging around outside, including two women smoking weed with three men near where we pulled in. There were also big potholes and abandoned cars with people living in them or storing their belongings. The pictures on Booking.com didn’t match the property, and there was no pool. The place looked nothing like the online photos. Our room had a smelly, damp shag carpet, roaches in the bedside drawer, an opened bag of chips, and an empty vodka bottle. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling too. When I asked for a refund so we could leave, the desk clerk refused and wouldn’t send anyone to look at the bugs. She told me to call my bank the next day and ask for the manager. I’ve called more than 40 times and mailed the manager, but haven’t received a response. My bank couldn’t help either. I booked four days and lost $500. We left at 11 pm, found another hotel, and paid another $609. Fireside hotel up the road took us in. It was July 4th, and finding a room was a nightmare. We nearly had to sleep in the car. Booking.com couldn’t help get my money back either. This place should be condemned. Please read the reviews and don’t stay here.

The hallway smelled bad, and the whole stay had too many problems. I was in town on vacation for a week, and the hotel was convenient for Portland, but the low price came with poor value. My room phone had a flashing red message light, yet there was no sound when I picked it up. After I connected my phone to the Wi-Fi, the room phone rang twice, stopped, then rang again about ten seconds later. I thought it might be the front desk, but nobody came to my door. It rang twice again when I returned to the room, then stayed quiet for the rest of my three-day stay. When I came back from sightseeing, four police officers were in the parking lot, apparently frustrated with whoever had called. They returned about 15 minutes later and arrested a man, telling him to stay away from a certain room. The front desk was watching what was happening. There was a strong smell in the hallway, like people’s funk, pizza, and smoke. Some doors looked as if they’d been forced open, with holes above the handles. The window blind slider was broken, the sink was clogged, and my key card kept losing its magnetism. The door card didn’t work properly either.
