We won't be coming back. This hotel used to mean a lot to my fiance and me. We'd stayed for special occasions, and once it helped us through the worst week of our lives. The pool and breakfast used to be good, and we never had bugs. This time, though, there were stink bugs in the room, including a cluster in the corner and one by the lamp. There also aren't Keurigs in the rooms anymore. Since they apparently aren't affiliated with Best Western now, the place has gone to shit, pardon my French. We booked for my birthday because we'd enjoyed staying here before, and the pool was a main reason. I'd seen a Google review from five months earlier saying it was out of order, but assumed it had been fixed. When I checked after we arrived, it was still closed. The front desk man said it had been permanently closed for over a year. We explained that we'd booked for the pool and found the photos on Google, then followed the Booking.com link there to reserve. He said Booking.com didn't show pool pictures and there was nothing he could do. When we suggested they should post a sign saying permanently closed instead of out of order, he said no and told us to contact Booking.com. After I waited on hold, they said they couldn't help either. Breakfast was another reason we booked. It used to include eggs, sausage, bagels, toast, cereal, waffles, and maybe more. This time it was cereal, old oranges, bread for toast, which was stale, and waffles, so we went elsewhere each morning. The trip was good because of who I was with, not because of the hotel.

There were lots of large bugs in our room this evening, so I went to the desk to ask if someone could remove them. The young man said the maid could deal with it tomorrow, even though we were checking out then. When I asked him to come up himself, he looked at me and said, “It is not my job”. A job without guest contact, and away from a hotel, might suit him better. I've stayed here several times without problems, and the manager has always been very nice, though I didn't see him this time. I won't be back.

I really enjoyed the whole experience, from the restaurant and hotel to the staff. I took one of their cards so I can stop again on my way home from New York to Florida. It's a nice place for a break right in the middle of the trip. Thank you.

The rate was decent, and being close to the interstate was convenient. But the breakfast didn't match the room information at all: no waffles, French toast, yogurt, biscuits and gravy, or muffins. There was a closet facing the bed that seemed like it should have had a door. The sheets had two blood spots and other small marks that looked fresh, so it seemed they hadn't been washed or changed. Light from outside hit me because the curtains couldn't be closed, and the floor lamp bulb was out. We tried calling the desk, but the phone didn't work. We also had two fire alarms during the night. I know that's not the hotel's fault, but there was no explanation or information about what had happened. We had to leave our room from 1:30 to 3:00 a.m. Afterward the elevators didn't work, and carrying everything down the stairs at 70 was difficult. Not sure we'll return.

Our room was very clean, and the mattresses were really nice. The carpets were clean too, and the place looked like it had a fresh coat of paint. You can tell it's an older hotel, but it still has amenities you don't find anymore: a huge guest living area, a very large dining room, an indoor pool, and a breakfast buffet that's larger than most. We'd definitely stay again.
