Motel 6 Portsmouth, VA

A hotel clerk knew a woman who was being thrown out and didn't warn me before I helped pay for two nights for her, supposedly for her and her three grandsons. He just wanted the money. Silence isn't golden here, it's complicity. I have no doubt she's out conning other people too, and I wouldn't be surprised if others there are doing the same. This hotel seems shady.

The room I'd paid for and booked online smelled strongly of old sweat, and the TV had a crack down the middle and didn't work. Staff were very rude. When I said the TV was broken, they told me it wasn't, then I spent more than two hours waiting for the supposed maintenance man while he made excuse after excuse about why another room wasn't ready. Eventually he asked what I wanted. I asked for a refund, and he rudely said fine. Don't stay here, even if it's cheap.

We got a room at the last minute. The staff were very good, and the rooms were clean. The housekeeper was super sweet and they met all of our accommodations. I'd definitely recommend Motel 6. Thanks!

The place was loud, with lots of people openly using drugs outside the rooms. My mom wanted to cancel her reservation as soon as she walked in. The receptionist looked scared and wouldn't come out from behind the bulletproof glass. People using drugs blocked the walkway downstairs to the car, and a guy on a bike followed my mom around asking for money, making her feel unsafe and uncomfortable. The bed smelled like pure urine. The lovely pool shown on the website wasn't there, just a tiny, dirty pool that was out of order. It's scary and dirty. Run away!
