The Hotel Portsmouth was a perfect place for our girls' weekend. Its quaint, cozy, quirky, eclectic feel was absolutely wonderful, and we loved every minute of the weekend in Portsmouth. All the beds were comfortable, so we slept well throughout. Our group had seven of the eight rooms, and those were spacious and well appointed. The eighth, on the third floor, had a slanted attic ceiling, making it smaller and darker, with no counter space in its tiny bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful, and there were lots of private indoor and outdoor spots for our group to gather. The kitchen was well stocked, with an extensive continental breakfast in the morning and coffee, tea, water, and soda water available all day. The location is hard to beat, within walking distance of everything downtown.

We stayed at the Portsmouth Inn for a girls’ trip, and the old mansion made such a lovely base for our time in Portsmouth. Our room was spacious enough for all four of us, with crisp white sheets, cozy blankets, plenty of pillows, and comfy beds. Breakfast was delicious, and the employees were so nice and accommodating. I’d happily stay here again.

The evening manager made the stay for us. When the thermostat in our first room wouldn’t communicate with the heat pump, he tried to sort it out, then offered us another room with window AC units that worked better. There was a fan in there too, though it didn’t work. He was easy to talk to, answered all our questions about the property and other hotels, and clearly cared about his work. We enjoyed our stay, and the climate issue wasn’t a crisis. The hotel has a lot of character and felt well worth the price. We’d come back.

A spacious bedroom, a really comfortable bed and pillows, and an easy check-in made this a great guest house at the super comfy Hotel Portsmouth. The main attractions are an easy walk away.
