Red Lion Inn & Suites Post Falls

The smell of old food seemed to hang throughout the hotel, the floors were sticky, and there was a heap of garbage out back. People appear to be living here. Something odd is going on with this location. I’ve stayed at plenty of Red Lions, and they’ve been clean, so I didn’t check reviews beforehand. I’d guess some of the good reviews are for the other Red Lion nearby. This place really is as bad as the reviews say.

We only needed a place to stop overnight on the way to Montana, and it did the job, but I wouldn’t come back. It wasn’t as bad as most reviews made it sound, though I should have read them before booking. The staff were very friendly, and the continental breakfast was good, with the usual fruit, waffles, yogurt, cereal, and coffee. The beds were comfortable, but my white comforter had a visible dirty footprint on it. The lobby and hallway carpet was filthy and needs a deep clean or replacement. The floors were sticky, and there was dried poop in the toilet. We asked for a quiet room and got one on the freeway side. Traffic went on all night, mostly because the window was cracked, so it was like having it open. We got about three hours of sleep.

The beds were uncomfortable and had faint off-white stains, and kids ran and screamed through the hallways. The lobby smelled so strongly of curry that it burned my eyes. There were holes in the doors, the towels were full of holes and stains, and the ground-floor windows wouldn’t lock. The shower never stayed warm long enough for a proper shower. I’ve never stayed anywhere where I couldn’t find a single nice thing to say. This place is in such a terrible state that it ought to face criminal charges. I swear on my family I’m not exaggerating. I’ve included some pictures. There are so many fake reviews here; they must pay people to rate it above two stars.

We booked two nights but left after the first and asked for a refund. We woke up with bites on our arms, torso, and legs. When I pulled the blankets back, I found at least two live fleas in the sheets. We packed immediately, told the front desk, and asked to cancel the remaining night. In the response to my review, they said they wanted the chance to welcome us back. After being bitten, that felt like a slap in the face. The previous Red Lion owners were good about addressing customer concerns, but apparently the new owners aren’t. The rooms are old and seem poorly maintained. Our shower had a large crack in the fiberglass, the sink drained slowly, one pillowcase was stained or hadn’t been changed, the carpets were old, and the bathroom door rubbed against its frame and was hard to shut. It’s pet friendly, but several guests let dogs out without leashes, and some left their dogs’ mess on the grass. Watch your step in the back grassy areas. We’ve had good stays at many Red Lions over the years, but this place has made me reconsider booking with the company. I’d strongly suggest paying more for a better motel and experience.
