SureStay Plus Hotel By Best Western Poteau

Check-in was easy, and the front desk guy was super kind. The room was clean, the water was hot, the A/C worked, and the bed was comfortable. My only complaint was the noise: people talking loudly and kids running around after 9:30 pm. The walls are thin, and the whole floor shook from the running. At the same time, nearby engines were revving excessively for well over an hour.

We always take a look at the breakfast area after checking in, but I guess we won’t do that here again. The front desk man came around the corner and said something like, “can you not...” We’re never staying here again anyway, so it’s a moot point. I don’t care how clean a place is, I won’t give it my business if staff don’t treat my spouse and me respectfully. We told the woman at the desk in the morning. The man had an immediate attitude when I politely asked whether he needed a copy of my license. He interrupted my spouse, then said nothing after we finished the check-in paperwork, not even thank you. When I asked if we were done, he said yes. I asked about breakfast and he rattled off “6 to 9” without turning around. It was a big change from the friendly service at another Best Western we stayed at last week.

You get the room you pay for, so that’s the two stars. They offer breakfast, which was a surprise. But other guests had no respect for anyone, slamming doors and letting kids stomp and run back and forth across the second floor at any hour. The noise made it impossible to rest, like everyone was in their own world. It’s a decent place otherwise.

No stars should be an option. I checked out over two weeks ago and only just got my money back after an altercation with the manager. He was beyond rude, wouldn’t listen to anything I said, and lied to my face. During the week I stayed there, he made at least three false accusations. I won’t stay anywhere that doesn’t welcome me, my boyfriend, my mother, her partner, and the rest of us kindly. A business like this should treat people with proper hospitality.
