Best Western Potsdam University Park Inn

The receptionists were friendly and clearly tried to help. But someone, maybe housekeeping or the janitor, went into my room without telling me, even though I had put the Do Not Disturb sign on the door. No one called my phone first, and the sign was left inside afterward. I felt like my privacy had been invaded and was very upset. I have a picture showing the sign outside, so I know I had put it there. I come upstate every week and expected this hotel to be my home away from home for the next year and a half. I won't stay there again. That's why I gave the hotel one star for service.

The front desk employee was wonderful. When my husband told her their room hadn't been cleaned, she apologized, made the beds and cleaned it herself, and credited us for the night. We're still waiting for that refund, though. My husband and daughter were there for a college tour, and found towels and sheets piled on a chair, unmade beds, and a dirty bathroom. I’d stayed before the hotel changed hands and became a Best Western without any problems. It sounds like the hotel needs to address its traveling cleaning crew right away.

Will made the stay especially memorable for our son, bringing him Halloween candy and a Spider-Man coloring book to keep him occupied. The whole Best Western team was friendly and helpful from the minute we arrived, and made us feel at home. We loved staying at the Best Western in Potsdam and hope to return to The North Country someday. Thanks to Will and everyone there!

The location is lovely, right beside a park on the Raquette River and close to downtown Potsdam. Restaurants and shops are easy to get to. We had very helpful staff, excellent service, and a really comfortable stay.
