Days Inn by Wyndham Pottstown

For what they charge, I think there are newer places nearby at about the same price, so I'll probably try somewhere else next time we're in town. The room itself was comfortable and generally clean, and the A/C worked great. I hadn't realized I'd booked a motel with outside doors, which doesn't bother me, though others may want to know. Check-in was extremely slow. In room 213, the small panel above the door was stuck slightly open, probably from years of paint, and we couldn't close it. Since there was a lot of smoking outside all night, that open gap wasn't ideal. The hotel takes a $50 deposit at check-in in case you smoke in the room. My credit card was refunded, so that was fine, but it's worth mentioning.

The staff were welcoming and friendly, but the place felt dated, perhaps like a motel converted into a hotel. The walls are painted cinder blocks, the rooms smelled like someone had smoked in them, and the pool was out of service. There's only glass where an outer wall would be, so outside noise comes right in. One of our two beds was fine, the other had stained sheets. It's basically a bed and a place to wash up, with no luxury.

Wednesday December 27th 2023 The front desk woman was really nice. She brought extra towels and body wash, and gave me another key without hesitation when I left mine in the room. The service was great, but housekeeping needs to do a better job and the rooms need some care. Both beds had hair and stains, and the sheets and comforters had large tears. There was no body wash in the shower or lotion in the room. The curved shower curtain didn't match the straight bathtub, so water flooded the room. I wasn't surprised at this price, but these are basic things that should have been replaced or restocked during morning housekeeping.

The grounds were filthy and smelled of marijuana, with people hanging around in dark corners. The heater didn't work: it was set to 90, but cold air came out, and smoke from outside was blowing into the room. The TV was broken. Inside, there were roaches everywhere, dirty floors and cabinets, crumbs on the bed frames, and trash and grime behind the bedside table. The mattresses looked like something terrible had happened on them, and the place was so filthy I took pictures. The public photos are very misleading, and the reviews don't give a proper impression either. It's disgraceful that Expedia advertises this place. I wouldn't want anyone to stay here unless they want a night in filth, and it's way overpriced.
