Brittany at the front desk made check-in seamless, and Michelle did a wonderful job with my MIL’s 65th birthday celebration in the terrace ballroom. Michelle was communicative, professional, kind, and solution focused. The food was great, her staff were wonderful, and she stayed through the event to make sure we had what we needed. The trouble came while booking 10 rooms, including 2 suites for the birthday girl. Imani in sales was very difficult to work with. I asked several times for a call and was ignored. After emailing and being assured the rooms would be booked for the weekend, she told us we’d have to check out a day earlier than requested. That added stress we didn’t need. I wish I could give the experience 5 stars, but we’ll definitely be back to this beautiful hotel, and we greatly appreciate Brittany, Michelle, and the staff for making the celebration memorable.

The whole weekend went downhill from the first phone call. We called on check-in day to ask about early arrival, and MISA said there was no reservation under our name. I spelled it several times, but she kept insisting it wasn’t there. When we asked her to spell it back, she refused in a condescending tone and hung up. Brittany, the manager, found the reservation without trouble. We complained in person and asked for an apology from Misa, but she just stood there with a fake smile and acted as if she didn’t know what we meant. The room was mostly comfortable, but only one curtain opened, so it was hard to get daylight in. The TV worked once and then wouldn’t turn back on. Misa said she’d send an engineer, but no one came. We went downstairs and got help from Brittany instead. The shower pressure was almost nonexistent, while the bathroom sink pressure was so strong it was only usable as a trickle. The room coffee was terrible. We were offered free dinner because of the trouble with Misa, so we tried the restaurant. My salmon was supposed to come with asparagus but arrived with broccoli. When I asked about it, the bartender shrugged and brushed me off. They only comped the entrees, not dessert or even our drinks. Next morning there was no breakfast left, apparently they hadn’t planned for a large group of young teens attending a Church retreat. That night we planned to go to a comedy show, but came down for dinner first and found a note saying the restaurant had closed in observance of Valentine's Day. They didn’t tell guests ahead of time, or even put up a sign before that night. We went to the Brasserie down the road instead, which will get a great review from me. This place has gone downhill since it was the Poughkeepsie Grand. I rarely post a negative review, but it ruined our Valentine's weekend and the only vacation we’d taken in 2 years.

The hotel was clean and nice, and the food was AMAZING. The man and lady who helped organize the wedding were on top of everything, and he DJ’d too. I can’t say enough good things about them. We stayed 1-30-2/1 2026, with the wedding that Saturday. Great job, employees!

I was a bridesmaid at a wedding here on 11/14/25. The getting-ready space was nice, but the service for the rest of the day was awful. At cocktail hour, guests arrived right on schedule, yet the hotel wasn’t ready. Many food stations had empty hot trays, and the stations with food ran out quickly. They didn’t refill the trays. The rest of the stations appeared about halfway through cocktail hour, the carving station meat took 35 minutes, and they ran out of plates and silverware. There was only one bartender for about 130 guests, so the line was very long and we waited over 15 minutes for drinks. Reception service wasn’t better. Dinner orders were wrong, one table never got the first course, and dinner wasn’t served until 9pm even though the reception began at 6. Everything ran behind after the ceremony. Nobody checked on the bride and groom during the night. Champagne glasses were on the tables, but there was no champagne for the toasts. Used plates sat out long after dinner, and the cake seemed to be forgotten. It disappeared during the reception and wasn’t served until the event was over, the DJ had stopped and the lights were on. I’m recently engaged and was considering this as a wedding venue, but I’ve taken it off my list. It felt like they’d never hosted a wedding, though I know that’s not the case. I wouldn’t recommend Double Tree for any kind of event.

The only standout here was Henry. He was professional, warm, genuinely helpful, and a pleasure to deal with every time. Joshua and the rest of the desk staff were wonderful too, and I have no complaints about them. Henry’s positive attitude and talent shine through despite the surroundings. This hotel doesn’t deserve someone of his caliber, and I hope he finds a 5-star property that appreciates and rewards his skills and personality. This place is stifling him. Everything else was a nightmare. A bright LED on the smoke detector flashed every other second, lighting up the room even through closed eyelids. I barely slept, which made my 10-hour drive south the next day dangerous and miserable. The meal was outrageous for the price. The $32 steak was basically a $3 Walmart steak, mostly fat, less than half an inch thick, and inedible. I could’ve bought a proper NY strip and Sterno and done much better. The night bartender was cold and completely unpersonable, making dinner worse. I still can’t believe I tipped. I had to “repair” the shower after every use just to make it work. The lock was so stiff it took nearly breaking the handle to open, then slammed shut hard if I didn’t let go carefully. The elevators made my head spin and gave me vertigo on every trip. The location isn’t ideal either. I’ve stayed in many hotels and rarely been this disappointed. I’ll never return and strongly advise people to look elsewhere. Henry and the front desk staff were the one bright spot. He deserves so much better.
