Holiday Inn Express & Suites Greenville S- Piedmont, an IHG Hotel

The beds were awful. We both tossed and turned all night and woke with sore backs. The room also needed better upkeep: the bathroom door wouldn't close properly, there was a bottle cap on the floor when we arrived, and the shower looked less than clean, with lots of discoloration in the caulk. Even so, we enjoyed having a night away together, despite living nearby. The staff were very nice, the location was handy for dining, basic stores like Walmart, and the interstate, and the hotel wasn't crowded. The free breakfast had an impressive range of choices. It was a positive little getaway, but we'd choose somewhere else if we did it again.

We paid $200 for a weekend night, which would be a stretch for this place. The room was dusty in several spots, with uncleaned surfaces and floors that clearly hadn't been cleaned in a while. The bedroom trash cans didn't have bags in them, so we put trash on top. The old inner-spring beds had no pillow top or latex pad. The bathtub and shower split was very slippery and could be dangerous for an elderly person. The elevator floors were dirty, and the trash can by the pool's back door was overflowing. The parking lot is hard to enter from the southern exit. The AC worked well, though it was 65 degrees outside. Ask for a room facing the trees, not Cracker Barrel, since road noise is loud on that side.

Kellie was such a joy to talk with at check-in last night and went above and beyond with customer care. She deserves plenty of recognition. My room was immaculate and cozy, and that bed was AMAZING, like sleeping on a marshmallow. I slept so well. Breakfast was hot, fresh, and plentiful. The location is ideal, close to several food and shopping options but away from the chaos, with ample parking. This is a great place to stay, and the staff are amazing. I highly recommend this H.I.E. This was my 120th stay this year, so I have a lot to compare it with. Trust me.

The front desk staff were kind, understanding, and embarrassed, and I was told the GM would call me. That was exactly a week ago, and there's still been no call. What happened during my stay led me to leave a full day early and drive 9hrs through the night. I never asked for or got a refund, though the staff felt one was deserved. That's the only reason this is a 3 star review instead of 5.
