The floors really need a better vacuuming. There were hairs everywhere when we walked in, especially across the bathroom tile, though the toilet and sink and the things you actually touch seemed clean. It’s not a bad place, but the breakfast situation left us feeling unwelcome. We arrived at 8:46, with breakfast closing at 9, and only wanted something quick from the waffle maker, cereal, or yogurt. The woman in the lobby called out that we had two minutes and hurried over from her chair to take things away before we could get any. If the rule is to close at 9, it seems fair to leave things until then. She was removing cereal and other items well before that. It was awkward and unkind. A young man working the lobby had been much friendlier the day before, asking if we wanted more breakfast before he closed it. We said no and left so we wouldn’t be in his way. A little kindness costs nothing, and people tend to return it.

After a long drive through awful icy roads, being allowed to check in early was a real relief. The room was clean, and the bed was warm and comfortable. There was just one trash can for both the room and bathroom, and we had to get the remote from the front desk. It’s in a nice area, not too far from Montegomery.

I see a lot of bad reviews, so I wanted to share what it’s been like for me. I stay at The Red Roof Inn often, and I’m here today. The rooms I’ve had are always clean, the appliances work, and I haven’t encountered any bugs. After long work shifts, I come here for the quiet and peace, and it’s also quiet outside when I check in. I haven’t seen people hanging around the parking lot or heard loud music. The prices seem reasonable to me, much cheaper than most hotels around here. A couple of the staff could improve their customer service, but most of the experience has been good. The one thing that bothers me is a very strong smell in the hallway. I may be wrong, but I still think it could be from someone using drugs in a room.

I came back for my second stay this month. The price is great and the location is convenient, and check-in is quick and easy. The front desk guy has been friendly and helpful both times. My first visit had no problems at all. This time, I asked to switch rooms because mine smelled like dog urine, and they moved me right away without hesitation. 10/10 recommend.

We’ve stayed at this Red Roof several times because we travel with our pet. Lately, though, the upkeep and cleanliness have gone downhill a lot. I spotted a cockroach on the TV stand and couldn’t sleep, worrying there might be more crawling around. Disgusting. Do better, Red Roof.
