We rented the whole inn for a week for a three-generation family reunion, and it worked wonderfully for our group. The large common areas were cozy and comfortable, and there was a spacious commercial kitchen. Outside, we had lovely spaces with lights, plus enough tables and chairs for everyone to eat or hang out together. The owner keeps making upgrades and had recently added a fire pit with comfortable chairs around it. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Any time we had a question or concern, they responded quickly and took care of it right away. We hope to come back.
Update: We returned in 2022 and it was still wonderful. Dinner is now served Thursday through Sunday, while homemade breakfast is still available every day. On our first stay, Bill and Mary made us feel welcome at this quaint, family-run place. The rooms were clean and nice, and the common areas felt cozy with a roaring fire on cold winter nights. The location was ideal, less than a mile from Killington and a few miles from Pico mountain. The restaurant on site was excellent, with world-class food.
My husband and I had dinner at the inn both nights because the food was outstanding. We also loved spending time in the great room, talking with visitors and locals. Our queen room was spacious and very clean. At night we could open the bedroom windows and run the fan, letting in cool, fresh mountain air that helped us sleep really well. The hosts were lovely, and I highly recommend the inn.
Mary and Bill were so attentive and friendly that we felt comfortable right away, like we’d known them for years. They know the area well and gave us great ideas for things to do. We enjoyed the delicious food at the inn’s restaurant and drinks in the cozy bar. We went for a romantic ski weekend, and the beautiful design made the inn feel like home. I’d highly recommend staying here, and we plan to return.
The lounge is a comfortable place to sit with a glass of wine in the evening, and Mary’s baked treats at breakfast are delicious. If you can save some for later, they make a great snack between rides. We’ve been visiting Killington for about six years and have tried several B&Bs. Birch is easily our favorite, with Bill and Mary as great hosts. Rooms differ in size, amenities, and price; some have fireplaces and some don’t, but that’s clear when you book. If I remember the COVID precautions in the right order, when a guest left they used an ultraviolet light, cleaned, and then applied the light again. I strongly recommend this place.
