Sage Lodge

We just went for brunch, not an overnight stay, and had a lovely meal with a beautiful pond view. The pastries, omelette, and bison breakfast platter were all great. Try the lavender cappuccino too. We also walked the trail and had fun axe throwing. Beautiful place!

The lodge’s lobby is stunning, and the location is great, but that’s where the positives stopped for us. Our room felt worn out, with scratched furniture, dog hair all over the floor, and a sagging mattress. It was missing the little things you’d expect from a luxury resort: bath mats, slippers, decent blackout curtains, and an in room Nespresso. The service was very poor too. We asked for early check in, waited three hours in the lobby, then got our room just 15 minutes before regular check in. I requested room service for 3 pm, when I knew the room would be empty, but they came in and cleaned while I was asleep. That crossed a line and left me very uncomfortable. The food was okay, but forgettable. The lodge is 10 years old and it looks like nothing has been replaced. I could never recommend it in good faith, and this is not a 5 Star destination.

We only had one night at Sage in February and wished we could stay longer. The views are lovely, and the onsite restaurants and bar were great. Bozeman, where we flew in, is a decent distance away, but once we got toward Pray there didn’t seem to be much to do on a Sunday night in February. Maybe summer is different. I’d still come back, though, and hope to explore more and enjoy the full serenity Sage Lodge offers next time.

The food and atmosphere were fantastic at both restaurants, and everyone on staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive. The complimentary welcome drink was amazing. Graham, the shuttle bus driver, made getting around easy, and my tour guide, Bejurn, was knowledgeable and really nice, making the tour both fun and informative. I had an incredible visit to Sage and will be back soon.
