Holiday Inn Express Princeton/I-77

A cozy little stop right off the interstate. The staff were welcoming and accommodating, and the manager was kind whenever I saw him. The elevator was out, and he talked with me about it and kept apologizing. The outside seating area is peaceful, breakfast was good, and the coffee was hot.

Breakfast was good, but after several previous stays, this recent visit was disappointing. We had a king accessible room even though we aren't disabled, and the bathroom felt carelessly maintained, with a torn shower curtain and tile that needed a good steam cleaning. Worse, groups were allowed to party on the patio near the rooms at 1 and 2 a.m., slamming doors and waking people. I was surprised the Holiday Inn let that go after 10 p.m. Travelers need sleep before getting back on the road. We're members, but we'll choose another place next time.

A handy one-night stop while passing through WV. Check-in was quick, the front desk was super friendly, and the room was clean. There was a hot tub and pool, plus free water, coffee, and cookies. Breakfast was quick and had a pancake machine along with eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, muffins, and more. The shower pressure was okay, and at breakfast they came around with big bags of sour gummy bears for all the kids.

I left after about four hours because I felt unsafe. The door didn't work properly, there were loud noises, and sketchy people were around the rooms. The place looked like a decent basic hotel on hotels.com, but it wasn't. My kids had to share one bed with me and my husband in the other. We didn't use the pullout couch, and we locked the bedroom door because the main door wouldn't shut properly. I checked out at 4 a.m. with my tired family and drove on. When I went to the desk to explain, nobody was there despite ringing the bell several times. I called the next day to ask for a refund and was told only Ed could handle it. That was on the 27th. Now it's May 21, and Ed has denied the refund and hung up on me. My experience was that this was a crummy, filthy hotel with no regard for guests. I don't understand how it's still in business, and I won't stay at a Holiday Inn Express again.
