Salmon River Pub & Grill

We arrived late, so we didn’t get to try the restaurant and bar downstairs, though they looked nice. The room came with a microwave and refrigerator, and it was a clean, pleasant place to stay with our four dogs. The people here were great, and it’s pet friendly.

The owner was very accommodating, and the room was comfortable enough for an inexpensive place to sleep during a fishing trip. It’s no-frills. Some of my travelmates did complain about the thin walls, since it was easy to hear other guests talking and moving around.

I’ve worked in the restaurant business for over twenty years and usually want small businesses to succeed, but this was a terrible experience. We waited a long time, and the food was awful. The fries were too hard to eat, the mashed potatoes were cold, and the broiled haddock sandwich was mushy. Service was poor, and they didn’t take anything off the bill. This is the first review I’ve ever written, and I won’t be back.

Their chili was basically like Ragu spaghetti sauce with a little meat and a few beans, topped with mozzarella and bacon. It had no chili powder or any kind of Southwest seasoning. Chili is one of the easiest things to make, so I hate to imagine how the rest of the menu tastes.
