Commodore Resort

The lobby has a Subway, and the location is perfect. My boyfriend and I stayed overnight at the Commodore hotel and had a good stay. The mattress was firmer than I liked, but we’d stay again.

The room floors were disgusting. After showering, we put a towel down and it picked up black grime from the tile. The hallways smelled of stale smoke, and the lobby smelled like the Subway shop inside it. The main entrance is in an alley by waste dumpsters, with no Main Street entrance, so it was hard to find. The counter girl mumbled, and I had to ask her several times what she was saying. My key cards failed twice, and she had to come try them at my room. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The pool was a highlight, with music and a fun atmosphere all day. It was a nice place to relax or meet people, especially in summer. My room was clean and comfortable, and surprisingly quiet at night even with all the activity nearby. The Commodore Resort is right in the middle of things in Put-in-Bay, with bars, restaurants, and the ferry a short walk away. Staff were very friendly and helpful, answering questions and sharing local tips. I had an amazing time and would stay again for a fun, laid-back island getaway.

The room was decently clean, and the location puts you close to all the shenanigans. This hotel is clearly aimed at party goers, with nothing luxurious about it. The biggest turnoff was the crowd the Subway in the lobby brought around. I know the hotel can’t control everyone who hangs out there, but I felt unsafe coming and going through the main entrance. I witnessed several incidents of thuggery, loud and on display, including someone asking for my wife’s phone number to deliberately start something. Maybe that says more about the people frequenting PIB these days, but that Subway has to go before I’d consider coming back.
