The beds are pretty awesome, much more comfortable than Holiday Inn, and the location is perfect, right by Circle K and Little River truck stop at the interstate. The staff were friendly and helpful. When I noticed the desk chair was damaged at check-in, I told the man at the front desk and he replaced it quickly. The room was clean for the most part. The hallways sometimes smelled of smoke, but I expected that. Really nice hotel.

Our room was clean, and breakfast was the usual kind of spread, instant powdered eggs, cereal, and so on. The elevator looked as if it hadn't been cleaned or mopped in weeks. At check-in, the clerk seemed lazy and angry about having to stand back up to take our ID because I could only reach so far across the desk. She'd asked for our ID, then sat down behind the desk. A company had booked several rooms for employees, but those rooms were either still dirty or trashed when the employees arrived. The clerk asked if they'd trashed them even though they were just checking in. Odd. They left and found somewhere else. The stay was okay, but I probably wouldn't come back.

We came in during the night because, on the way home, I saw the rooms had tubs and really wanted a soak. The tub was good and there was plenty of hot water. The place is old, but that was good enough. At 5:00 a.m., someone seemed to be trying to get into our room. My husband got up and went to the door, but no one was there. He went to the bathroom, and I got up to wait. Then a woman from the desk came into the room and said my name. She said someone had called for help from room 112, that it must have been a prank, and she was sorry. But nobody had used my name, I hadn't fallen out of bed, and there was no one “crying hysterically.” My husband would have helped me if I had fallen. She'd just come right in. Who could sleep after that? I went to the desk to ask why she'd done it. By then, the front desk manager was there. She said she'd read the notes and had a right to enter. She said if she hadn't heard anything, she might have thought I'd passed out, and that seeing my service dogs gave her the right. I complained to Choice. The manager later called again, said she had PTSD too and understood, then sarcastically asked how I could help her do her job. She also said the room was for handicapped people and that if I were handicapped I might have needed help. I am handicapped, and my husband was there. You didn't get my name over the phone, you didn't knock, you just came in. What exactly were you going to do in the room? And then you say I'm not handicapped. Crazy. We packed up. They wouldn't refund us, but gave us points to stay again. Imagine being asleep and someone unlocking your door. Privacy isn't included in this stay.

The room was great, huge, with a living room and a giant two-person jet tub near the sleeping area. I loved how spacious it was. The cleaning staff were very kind and helpful in the hallway when I checked out. It's really rural and in RADFORD, NOT Christiansburg as advertised. The exit is very DARK at night, so do something about that! We had to drive about a mile to reach the hotel. A big truck blocked the entrance the whole time I needed to unload my things. I'm a senior and handicapped, with a service dog, and someone working there should've noticed the truck taking its good old time while its occupants stood around smoking and held everyone else up.

On our last morning we had to leave at 6 a.m., before the 6:30 breakfast. The desk employee told us the danishes and coffee were already out and we were welcome to take some. They were great, and I appreciated her offering them early. We stayed here last year too, and the breakfast then was great. This was our second stay at comfort inn christiansburg, va. We arrived at noon and saw just one car in the lot. A male employee came down the hall when I was waiting at the desk. I said I was there to check in and asked whether the room was available. Before he even got behind the desk to check the computer, he said check-in was at 3:00. When he found my reservation, he said early check-in would cost an extra $30. I asked if the room wasn't ready, but he stumbled over his answer and repeated the charge. He was unfriendly and seemed spiteful. I declined, and because our plans meant we couldn't return at 3, we came back at 10 p.m. That same employee was extremely nice and helpful then. We couldn't make use of breakfast on the other mornings either, since we needed to leave at 6. Because of the unfriendly first check-in attempt and that unreasonable extra charge when the lot looked quiet, we plan to stay at Tru (Hilton) across the street next year.
