Best Western The Inn at Ramsey-Mahwah

The location worked well for what I needed, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was what I expected, too. But the room had bugs, suspicious stains on the walls, and even stains on the sheets. For what this hotel costs, that’s hard to believe. I almost never write reviews, but after this experience I don’t think I’ll stay at a Best Western again. The rooms need a serious deep clean.

On my second work stay here in one week, I heard a woman gossiping about her friends until 2 a.m. The walls are thin, and people hang out on the stairs. I never saw an elevator. The restaurant is shut because of fire code violations, and the breakfast is worse than McDonald's. The hotel is just OK at best.

I’m a disabled veteran staying here while they look for a nursing home for me, and this place is truly unacceptable for a professional establishment. I’ve told my case manager. The Best Western Paramus down the road is a stark contrast. The adjoining restaurant has been closed for months, the HVAC and TV are broken, and the bathroom fan sounds like a garbage disposal. There isn’t a toilet paper holder, and two opened, wet rolls were left on top of the toilet. Check your room before unpacking. 😐

The beds in our first-floor room were clean and comfortable, and the fridge and microwave both worked. We had a two-queen room, decent cleanliness overall, and plenty of TV channels. Staff seemed nice, and we didn’t have bugs. For a reasonably priced couple of nights, it was not bad, though there were a few chipped sections of wall. The shower had weak water pressure, and the toilet took ages to flush properly. Staff were told about it. People could be loud and obnoxious, and the walls may be thin. The restaurant next door is no longer legally open, which was a letdown. Across the street there’s an Aldi's and some other shops, but the divided highway makes getting to things on the other side a hassle. You end up making constant turns to cross over. We were visiting from out of town, so it was manageable for us, and I’d suggest the location if you’re okay with that.
