Big Sky Lodge

We had no reservations or plans and just wanted somewhere decent that wouldn't cost a few hundred dollars a night. The owner was professional and kind, and even let us look at the room first. The place was quiet, clean, affordable, and nice. We had a very enjoyable stay and will come back if we're in the area.

We stayed a couple of nights in June while visiting Mount Rushmore and the Badlands. For a 2-star hotel, it was quite satisfactory and good value. The lodge sits conveniently on a hill in Rapid City, with wide views. Our room was small but fairly clean, and the complimentary breakfast buffet each day was decent.

Willie, the maintenance man, is great. The motel may be older, but it's neat as a pin. The tub was so clean I almost needed sunglasses in the bathroom, and the bed had a nice quilt. We had a great evening view over the city and would definitely stay again. The TV and its service were the only letdown.

We only spent one night here during a little road trip, after having trouble booking other hotels. This place was easy to reserve, very clean, and had a great location and view. The service surprised us in the best way. The woman at the front desk was probably the nicest customer service person I've ever dealt with. She was so kind and offered us free breakfast in the morning. There was a good variety at breakfast, and it was really yummy. The room also had a list of things to do, like hiking and swimming. I'd recommend staying here in Rapid City.
