Days Inn by Wyndham West Rapid City

The pool was the reason we chose this hotel, but it was closed because of another guest. Breakfast was waffles, cold cereal, and toast, though the toaster only toasted one side. We stayed two nights, and the beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Jessica made the stay decent. We arrived at 1:30 a.m. and were given a key to a room that smelled like sewer. She immediately found us another room. The staff were friendly, and Jessica was a jewel.

The bed was so comfortable it felt almost like sleeping on a cloud, and the mini fridge kept my drinks nice and cold. The TVs were great, too. Jenna was welcoming and kind, and all the staff were super friendly and helpful. I also chatted with the maintenance man. He seemed to be the top dog for getting repairs done quickly, and really knew preventive maintenance. A splendid atmosphere to stay in.

Samantha, the manager, is one of the kindest people ever, and she has a great team. My room was clean and ready for a good night's or day's stay. The beds were neatly made, the fridge and microwave worked, and there were no bathroom problems. Towels, liners, and linens were fresh. I recommend it.

I stayed at the Days Inn on lacrosse street, booked under my wife's name, and came because I wanted to see mt Rushmore. I’ve traveled to over 32 country's, including some horrible hotels in Kazakhstan and Pakistan, and this place beats them as the worst. The owner replies to every review as if they matter most, but nothing changes. It feels like the owner cares only about the next dollar. The rooms need a full remodel, new cleaners, or to be closed and demolished. Stains were everywhere: walls, sheets, carpet, and even gum stuck in the carpet. Both beds had stained sheets. I was so worried about bed bugs that I slept with the lights on and no sheets. I got the impression the sheets aren't cleaned, just tucked back in for the next booking, and that may well be true. The cleaner seems nonexistent or is pretending to clean. The security doors were wedged open day and night. At the back door, a man going through the trash asked to piggyback on my key card. I told him the doors were already open and had no locks. There were exposed ceiling panels and wires in my first-floor bathroom. I’m not joking about how bad this place is. They pay people for five-star reviews. If I hadn't wanted to see mt Rushmore so badly, I wouldn't have come.
