We saved money compared with local hotels, while getting much more privacy and a sense of home. Even so, the comfort and attention to detail are what made us fall in love with Reserve Raton. Nathaniel is a responsive host with unmatched care and kindness. Our time in Raton is over now, and Reserve Raton is one of our best memories from it. After a troubling hotel experience in Raton in 2023, we looked for another place to stay because we expected to travel more to care for elderly family. I found Reserve Raton in September 2024. Over the past year, caring for extended family brought us back to Raton repeatedly, for 8 plus weeks in total. We’ve stayed several times in each of the three homes. The word that comes to mind for Nathaniel’s properties is “Consistent.” Consistently clean, consistently updated, consistently a respite. Each home has details that lift our spirits. The Gallery House delights the senses. It grounds you in a past era, while the artwork takes you into an exploration of color, wonder, and connection with the past and future. Coffee at sunrise in the upstairs sitting room at the Gallery is a favorite. Morning sunshine fills the Carriage House while you cook breakfast, and the king-size bed is enveloping. The Casita’s tobacco floors ground you as soon as you walk in, and its intense shower is like a massage waiting to happen.
